dear diary,
today my professor said "vagina" five times. i may have had trouble not giggling. i may have actually giggled. out loud. in the front row. five times. i may still have the maturity of a fourth grader.

great vegspectations

guys. vegetables are the best. my body is so full of vegetables. oh man it is so great. this may be the beginning of vegetarian experiment #2.

it's been a real challenge to use up all the veggies before they go bad. almost as challenging as bschool. i've been really down about it. but you know what bschool taught me? when you are down and out and think things really can't get any worse and want to die...well, they probably will get worse. but also there is probably something you could do to help yourself. so i took a few hours off interview prepping, made a million recipes, forced a few friends to eat with me, and am lightyears closer to finishing these vegetables without wasting anything.

the best part is. THIS SHIT IS DELICIOUS.

drool away.

curried cabbage and carrot slaw

parmesan cauliflower mash

carrot fritters

potato kohlrabi and hot italian sausage soup

sweet potato mash

AND I STiLL HAVE AN ENTIRE SHELF OF VEGETABLES YET TO COOK!!!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHH

now go get some vegetables and eat them you won't regret it.
or come eat some of mine for godsake

nice to meat you.

jk! NO MEAT HERE! fresh organic locally picked vegetablepants only.

vegetate on this: in exchange for cleaning millions of carrots, planting billions of onions and freezing for hours in soaking wet clothes, johnson's backyard garden gave me a box full of zillions of vegetables. rainbow chard, kohlrabi, beets, parsley, turnips, cheddar cauliflower, and billions more. i haven't even seen some of these before, but luckily their website has all kinds of recipes to get me started!
gotta go! time for my vegetable bath!

twentyeleven

i have been absent for a while, my apologies. as you well know, the second exams ended i took every minute possible to sleep, see friends, and be merry.

sadly, i am back at school, but happily, i am preparing for interviews and hopefully all this hard work will pay off. that said, blogging seems like much more fun than studying right now, so lets focus on that.

usually around the new year i like to take a few moments to reflect on the past year, and try to think of something i'd like out of the next year. you may remember that last year, i hoped 2010 would bring me fire.

and fire was brought-ed. two crab rangoon fires in my toaster, a fire in my apartment building, a new path for my life, and an exciting outlook for the future. the end of the year certainly had some bumps in the road, but this was definitely the right path for me, its just not as easy as i might have hoped.

twenty-eleven, this is going to be a big year for us. lots of changes, maybe another move, definitely a better idea of where i am headed in life.

i hope you bring me nirvana. both an alternative rock band that will change the future of music, and a flow of peaceful energy that somehow keeps my feet on the ground during what is sure to be an even more outrageous roller coaster than before.

come as you are twentyeleven. im ready.

Canoe.

a great way of getting around.
also a great cat.
rest in peace buddy.
you brought us more dead (and live) animals than we could have ever imagined.
and mostly that was gross.
but also hilarious.
hope kittyheaven is filled with all the chipmunks and squirrels and birds your little kittyheart desires.

picture dayyyy

you might be wondering what it looks like to stay up all night and do a case challenge. this is us at 2am at the last challenge, 5 hrs away from game time. the old guy is our communication coach who stopped by to "help" but i think you can tell from alex's face that we all wanted to kill him.

oh yeah!

i remember actually. it was about my neighbors.

the grundles.

ok actually i don't know their names but they are really grundley if you know what i mean. the walls here are paper thin and months ago when i used to be home sometimes i would listen to music and mrs. grundle would knock on the wall in anger. my speakers aren't even that loud, so i got a little mad about it. lately it appears that the boyfriend, mr. grundle, if you will, has moved in. this is a new advancement, but it seems to be keeping mrs. grundle less grumpy, and the knocking on my wall has reduced severely. phantastic.

now that i am home and now that there is a mr. grundle i have realized that if i sit on my couch in silence i can hear every word of every conversation that goes on in their apartment. i don't think this would be that exciting if i had normal neighbors, but over the past few days i have learned a lot about the grundles that makes me believe they are really really weird. one day for example they were singing christmas carols to each other and correcting each others' pitch. and now that i know how much fun it is to find out weird things about them its really hard not to listen. but i know thats creepy so im working on it.

i hate them.
bye.

ohmigosh

i am so tired. let's start there.

this weekend has been insanely fun. it started with a daytime pub crawl and some ugly xmas sweaters, followed by several intense games of skeeball, followed by a potluck xmas dinner followed by a long night of dancing and shenanigan making. the result is that i have a skinned knee, my shoes are all danced out, and there are several unexplained gaps in my memory.

lets not talk about it.

unfortunately, i have one last bit of work to tie up and after 3 days of phun its so hard to concentrate on anything besides sitting on the couch or watching mtv or eating. and even those are hard sometimes.

in other news: there was definitely a reason i was writing this blog but now i can't remember. this is embarrassing.
i gotta go.

love.

top 10 reasons i love texas:

10. it is nov. 24, it is 6pm, and it is 78 degrees and breezy.
9. bbq. get in my belly. immediately.
8. adults throw hand signs for school spirit.
7. breakfast tacos. $1.50. handmade tortillas. eggs and potatoes and cheese. i mean come on.
6. tailgating insanity. people bring smokers and trailers and camp out the night before.
5. there is never an occasion where wearing cowboy boots is unacceptable. NEVER.
4. cowboys. in full cowboy attire. seriously. everywhere.
3. southern accents. sigh. they get me every time.
2. people are so nice its unbelievable. oh man i love it.
1. i just made crab rangoons and they didn't even light on fire! not once!

is this heaven or what.

update.
i just went to find a cute little picture of a child holding a gun to illustrate how wonderful texas is. let me just tell you. please. don't ever google child holding gun. oh god its disturbing. holy crap. i gotta go.
