shirtless wonder

today i was walking to buy stamps for my dumb job and i found myself walking next to a local celebrity.

meet shirtless dude.
he runs around georgetown and dupont, he always has his shirt off and is wearing a bandana, and he usually is well oiled. he is always listening to music, he is more than likely really pumped about his tunes, and he is always running or doing push-ups usually in the middle of everything. he is sometimes shouting, but always dancing. he is also more than likely homeless but boy is he ripped. he kept stopping to look in cars so i got nervous he was scoping them out to steal them, but then it turns out he was just checking himself out in the reflection. awesome shirtless dude. awesome.

DONT FORGET the sandwiches.

I just received this email from my dad and I am literally laughing out loud. It is really sweet and thoughtful but his notes at the bottom are so funny! WHAT NEEDS TO BE IDENTIFIED?!

Jessie,
I talked to the Israeli guy in my office and he suggested the following:

1. Bug/Mosquito spray
2. Band aid or small first aid kit
3. Sun Screen - it it very hot
4. A hat
5. A resuable water bottle
6. A good backpack
7. Beach Slippers for the Dead Sea Trip and the next day (muddy and sandy -
u can't walk with shoes)
8. 2 pair of good walking shoes (sneakers)
9. Several SD storage chips for your camera
10. An Adaptor for converting to Israel electricity system - to
charge you phone/camera
11. Painkillers
12. Inform the credit card company that you will be in Israel and the dates

NOTE: all of the above should be in your suitcase and you must be able to identify them
when you leave and arrive
Also: You may want to make sandwiches and put them in you backpack while on
outings

mr. balloonhands. no way. get real.

so apparently this guy dropped acid and then they locked him in a closet and recorded him. pretty hilarious.

don't worry

i know from the post below it looks like i'm suicidal but i'm really not. i just got a little sad about it because he was my first horse and i spent so much time with him, and i also think they put him down out of spite because they were pissed when they heard that i am trying to sell piper. they are dicks.

in other news: i forgot to tell you about these million things

for example: i was invited to interview at UT Austin, had my interview with an alumni in dc last week, and i think it went well because he emailed me today saying he gave me a good recommendation. he also told me all kinds of inappropriate things during my interview, and while part of me thinks it was a set up to see if i would also be inappropriate, part of me also thinks maybe he is just a skeez. most of me also thinks he is really hotttt.

also: i was waitlisted at UNC. i'm a little bummed but mostly i just wanted a yes or a no so i could know for sure if i am smart or dumb.

oh gosh what else: i am going to israel one week from today that is scary and i have done absolutely nothing to prepare. eeeep.

oh yeah and i took some glam shots of piper to try and sell her. look at this babe:

show and tell

today for show and tell i will show you pictures of all of the men that i would like to marry and you can tell me which one i can have.

sawyer from lost duh.

jack from lost also duh
although that tattoo really has to go

is someone suffocating me?
no, it is just peter petrelli from heroes
he is so hot it is hard to breathe and look at him at the same time.

farrier

ok tally the votes.
can't wait to be married.

bye!

um, really?

women on submarines?
and gays?
AND NO CIGARETTES?!
but then people may not suffer from second hand smoke when they are trapped on a submarine under the water with you for years at a time.
and they might think people should be treated equally.

is this a joke?! how is there opposition to this in 2010!!!!!!

i can't even joke around about this anymore. i can't believe people say out loud that women and gays shouldn't be allowed on submarines, and i absolutely can't believe they have the gumption to quote about it in the newspaper. much less say that the reason they are opposed is because they want to strip down and man hug. this is insane. grow up you little babies, frat party is OVER.

"Hormones do not shut down just because you go out to sea and submerge for many months at a time," wrote Mason, 53, of Comer, Ga. He said sailors rely on various coping mechanisms to deal with the stress of extended deployments, including man hugs, rear-end patting and other rituals; another veteran cited a tradition in which submariners who cross the equator for the first time are required to strip to their underwear.

"Serving on board a submarine is not a place to be if you are self-conscious or have any doubts about your sexuality," Mason added. "Silliness, male-bonding, and what might be considered inappropriate or 'politically incorrect' behavior in a civilian environment are all useful techniques that allow a sailor to endure the difficult living conditions and time away from their families and mainstream life."

nick g. a history.

once upon a time we went to high school with nick g*
it was weird.
once i was hungry and i went to balduccis to make a sandwich and nick g* was working at the meat counter.
he touched my meat.
it was weird.
once a while ago i was on okc and nick g* found me and wrote me a message
it was weird.
once on sunday we were at rei trying to try on clothes when i spied nick g* doing just that.
naturally i ran away.
it was weird.

crack babies

lately all i have been doing is reading books about drugs and terrible childhoods and abusive foster homes and gangs and more drugs (a piece of cake by cupcake brown) and watching tv shows about addicts (sober house with dr. drew) and reading articles about drugs addicts (like this one about crack babies). first of all if you read the article don't even think of falling in love with ryan because when he gets out of jail he is mine (he still loves his birth mom who abandoned him because "she gave me life". and he got her name tattooed above his heart. sigh.)

stop judging me it's fine.

secondly, i have been thinking a lot about marriage in general and you know how all our parents were on drugs in the 70s so they probably all just took a few too many drugs and got married willy nilly and now the divorce rate is skyrocketing. well i think because we are all sad our parents don't love each other anymore, maybe our generation is going to bring back lifelong marriages.

third and finally, is this heaven?

(the weekend - 7 hours)
(find out about unc - 3 weeks)
(israel - 4 weeks)
(quit my job - 11 weeks)
(summer of unemployment/love/horses/cowboys/murder - 11.1 weeks)

results friday

hahaha you didn't even know it was experiment monday through thursday.

well as you know i thought my sweetbreads were doomed, so i stopped drinking coffee.

i didn't notice a difference in my energy because i was pretty much dead anyway. i didn't have strep thanks for your concern but i do have allergies and a virus and they are both really dumb.

i did start drinking tea a million times a day. this is great.

also during experiment week i started eating mostly just fruits and vegetables and i feel so clean and healthy.

i have also fallen in love with spaghetti squash.

i am contemplating going vegetarian for good because i feel fantastic.

here's how you make spaghetti squash it's the best.
pierce the squash a million times with a knife.
put in microwave for 2-3 mins per pound. i put mine in for 5 minutes.
transfer to baking sheet and broil in oven for an hour or so. mine got pretty brown on the outside so just be careful you don't burn your apartment down like that fool upstairs.
cut it in half, scoop the seeds into the trash
scoop the rest into your belly.
after you cover it with tomato sauce and cheese.
then you are in heaven. congratulations.

speaking of billy joel

what about billy ocean

oh gosh.

last night everything happened. this is not an april fools joke. all of this is real. buckle up.

peter moved out (!!!) what an amazing turn of events. he did knock on my door 14 times in the process, but that was well worth knowing he is gone. although he just moved down the street so we will see what happens.

i had just put some soup on the stove and then someone knocked on my door again and i almost didn't answer because i was so tired of talking to peter and then it was some other dude from upstairs who said there was smoke upstairs and i should leave the building.

long story short, they got home, their apartment was full of smoke, so they shut the door and called 911. then they went to knock on everyone's doors to tell them to get out of the building, and the door to the apartment directly underneath them was hot to the touch. so we all figured that was where the fire was.

long story short, 7 firetrucks came, it was a real emergency, they shut the street down, ran upstairs with their hoses, axed the windows out in a few apartments, and hosed everywhere.

2 and a half hours later, they finally let us back into our apartments, but there is water and soot everywhere and this is just a really weird thing to happen. they wouldn't tell us how the fire started because there is an "ongoing investigation". buttt i'm feeling like either way now is a good time to invest in renter's insurance.

now i'm sick and i have a fever and i feel horrible. butttt at least peter is gone.

this isn't the best picture buttt you can see how the whole ceiling is gone in the apartment with the fire.

i really wanted to take more pictures but we weren't allowed too close to the building and i felt like a jerk getting in the way of firefighters putting out real fires.

bye bye bye

too old for the bars.

a sad day in america.

hey guys.

last night we tried to go out in georgetown. its so darn convenient. guess what. we are too old for georgetown. everyone was literally 22. we had to leave one bar because it was literally a frat party. and we saw 3 manboys wearing pink pants. we were clearly out of place.

then we went back to our old stomping ground- adams morgan. found a good place (brass monkey), people felt older, things were looking up. then some people started dancing with us, and after quizzing them on their ages (22 or 23 usually) they would ask me my agee (26 motherfuckers!) and then they would scamper off. guys i felt like a real grandmaa.

luckily we are never too old for jumbo slice.

however, i came home and broke a glass in my kitchen. really unfortunate. mostly because i still haven't cleaned it up. i'm just avoiding the kitchen. forever.

bye.

shhhh

peter is having a party i'm trying to listen.

gobsmacked

i am open mouth amazed. do yourself a favor and click on the link in that article to "Hobbit people of Indonesia", which is even more gobsmacking.

we have a real creepyface on our hands.

oh, hey.

so guess what?! i'm drinking coffee but i spilled it all over my hand and it was scalding hot so i guess that serves me right or something.

in other news: let's talk about my creepy neighbor.

peter.

he lives with his girlfriend ellen. she is asian. he is in his mid 40s i would say. and he's always out at weird hours. when i first moved in, he used to say hi all the time, but was kind of a dick and would like quiz me on his name. which i clearly never remembered, but once during the quiz i guessed paul, and i was wrong, but i laughed and said it was close.

anyway, so once he saw me carrying carrots and dressed weird leaving the building and we got to talking about horses and he said his girlfriend would love to come out there with me one day but i would have to tell her about it myself because she doesn't like when he talks to the women in the building because she gets jealous and thinks he's flirting.

meanwhile, she literally stares at me when i say hi when i pass her in the hall.

so then one night at like 11:30pm he knocks on my door really loud, and it turns out i had a package outside my door but i hadn't been using that door (i sometimes use my patio door to leave) so i hadn't seen it. i wouldn't open my door that late but he pointed down when i looked through the peephole and after he went into his apt i saw that was why he was knocking.

the other morning i heard him talking in the hallway when i was trying to go to work and i am always late, so i deliberately went out my patio door so i wouldn't have another encounter. i happened to notice he was talking to the other twenty-something woman in the building.

phew ok so yesterday he knocks on my door at 7:30am, which is really a weird time to knock on someone's door. so i answer and he takes out of his bag Details magazine (which is a magazine for dudes by the way) and says the mailman has been delivering my mail to his apt. so as he's taking it out, we see he has one too, and he's like OH! we get the same magazine! and i was like yeah that's weird i don't actually get this magazine, and then i notice my last name is spelled horribly wrong and it was addressed to HIS apartment. that literally makes no sense. so immediately i get the feeling that he ordered the magazine to his address with my name on it specifically so he could have this interaction. which totally creeps me out. OH AND I ALMOST FORGOT. he also asked how the horses were doing and i said ok and he asked when he could come out to see them and trying to be vague i said whenever and he was like WHEN and i was like i don't know whenever, and closed my door. what a creepyface.

so along with the magazine i got an invoice charging me for the magazine, so i wrote an email telling them i didn't order it and to please cancel the subscription, and i explained how it wasn't my name or my apartment.

this was the response from the magazine:

Dear Subscriber:

As you requested, your credit order has been cancelled. Please disregard any further billing you may receive.

Please accept any issues you have received with our compliments.

Someone had taken an insert card out of the magazine and filled out your name and address and sent it to us.

question time

its me again.

i have a question!

so all these schools keep trying to trick me into applying by offering me scholarships and quick decisions. i'm so torn.

twat do i do?!

here are the pros and cons. i have never done this about a boy i swear.

pros
maybe i will get a scholarship duh.
denver!

cons
the schools offering me dolla billz aren't ranked, and consulting firms do care about rankings.
(i am interested in working at a consulting firm one day)
schools that aren't ranked also don't get the same recruiters on campus
schools that aren't ranked are gay.
i have already asked my peeps to write me recs for a million schools and now i feel bad asking for more.

come on tell me everything.

results wednesday

i know i know everyone can't wait to find out what happened when i stopped drinking coffee for one day.

i was tired at work but then after work i was the same old me. but who needs work anyway.

so i'm trying again today but i might let myself have some decaf. i miss coffee :(

last night

my office hosted a cocktail party for all of our prison guard unions.

close to a hundred people came.

we were expecting thirty.

maybe you don't have a good idea about what prison guards are like. well i'll tell you. they are gigantic and they don't see women a lot.

my fellow paralegal and i were required to attend and we really wanted to hold ourselves to a 2 drink maximum. immediately upon our arrival, we changed that to a 2 drink minimum.

sweating
awkwardness
fondling
drinking
drinking
drinking
awkward fondling
more drinking
ensued.

we also learned how to make beer, wine, and moonshine in the privacy of our own homes. now if that isn't important i don't know what is.

anywho, today is really hard and im so tired and dehydrated.

back to workie.
bye!

i think our souls are made up of a billion little pieces with little pockets that are filled and emptied to make us feel things. it's amazing to think about how you forget these feelings even exist because what are the chances these particles of yourself would be filled up in exactly the same way they once were, making you feel just that exact way. and you don't even know to miss that you feel that way because the second that feeling leaves, you're already completely taken by the next ones. but now that you're back here, in this pocket, that makes you feel just so, it feels really really familiar. and fantastic.

im feeling really familiar and fantastic.

lets talk about it.

hes just not that into you. GREAT MOVIE. why did all you people hate it. its so true? is that why? cause it ended with everyone getting what they wanted in the end anyway and everyone was an exception and you are never the exception so that sucks?

of this house.

so yeah that's really all. i gotta find another movie so i can blog about it. this is all i have. this is the e nd. of the world. snomaggedon.
